Manager, Marketing and Communications
American Brain Tumor Association
Bayli joined the American Brain Tumor Association in late January 2024 as a Manager of Marketing and Communications. Her list of responsibilities include updating patient education materials, creating articles on ABTA-funded research for patients, caregivers, and stakeholders, and is head of marketing for the metastatic brain tumor initiative.
2023
Postdoctoral Associate
University of Florida
Bayli continued her training as a postdoctoral researcher in Dr. Catherine Flores' lab. During this training, she also expanded her expertise to include the gut microbiome and colon cancer through a collaboration with Dr. Christian Jobin's laboratory.
2020
Doctorate of Philosophy
University of Florida
Bayli received her PhD in Biomedical Sciences with a concentration in Immunology. She worked in the laboratory of Dr. Catherine Flores to characterize how brain tumors alter hematopoietic stem cells, the precursors to all immune cells. She also worked on an adoptive cellular therapy platform using tumor RNA-pulsed dendritic cells and tumor-reactive T cells. Bayli was also one of the first researchers to try her group's immunotherapy platforms in solid tumors outside of the central nervous system.
2015
Bachelors of Science
University of Florida
Bayli's undergraduate degree is in Biology. She served on the Center for Undergraduate Research Board of Students and helped other undergraduates obtain research positions. She worked in the laboratory of Dr. Naohiro Terada and helped characterize induced pluripotent stem cell-derived vascular smooth muscle cells to eventually model hypertension using a personalized medicine approach.
Science writing, content creation & community outreach
2022 - 2023
Content creator
Bayli ran the X and Instagram accounts for the Wells Brain Tumor Center at the University of Florida.
2019 - 2023
Science writer
Bayli helped create a Guide to Oncofertility for adolescents and young adults to understand resources to preserving their fertility after a cancer diagnosis. She wrote an Op-Ed in the Gainesville Sun on the importance of Telehealth during the COVID-19 pandemic and an article highlighting some cutting edge research on chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) T cells for the treatment of glioblastoma and osteosarcoma (see Writing Samples tab for more).
2017 - 2023
STEM Outreach
Bayli often leads elementary, middle, and high school students around the research lab to spark enthusiasm for STEM and cancer research. She has also judged Science Fair at a local elementary school, performed a Basic Lab Skills Workshop for post-baccalaureate students at the University of Florida, and spoke at the University of Florida's Cancer Research Symposium for High School Students.
policy training & scientific publications
Bayli was an American Society of Pharmacology and Experimental Therapeutics (ASPET) Washington Fellow and had the opportunity to advocate for biomedical research funding on Capitol Hill in 2020.
Dr. DiVita Dean has several publications in top-tier scientific journals such as Nature Communications, Nature Microbiology, Clinical Cancer Research, and the Journal for Immunotherapy of Cancer.
